BURYFields Spring Session with THE EQUATORS

Friday 25th April heralded the much anticipated BURYFields Spring Party, at Chesham’s Elgiva Theatre. With The Equators headlining, supported by Chesham’s own The Almays, the town was treated to a little taster of the main Summer BURYFields event, to be held at The Bury this coming June 21st. With crowd entertainment from the edgy and magical Dee Riley and lip-smacking Caribbean food from Ren’s Kitchen, it was truly a night full of festival flavour.

Well known local band, The Almays warmed up the crowd with a seamless set of their mod rock music, including Almays anthem ‘Along The Road’, until it was time for Martin Freeman to introduce ska legends, The Equators.

The Birmingham based group was originally formed in the 1980’s by three brothers, Rocky (Keyboard), ‘Don 1′(vocals) and Leo (drums). Their music has influenced other major players, including The Beat, and they have recently reformed to the delight of their listeners. They are now joined by new members, Joel (sax), Fly (bass) and Robin (guitar), and together they rocked the Elgiva with their high energy fusion of ska and reggae grooves. Chesham Tales was honoured to be granted access all areas.
