January To Do List

Happy New Year everyone! We hope you enjoyed your celebration, whether raucous or quiet, massive or modest.

Reflections on 2014 may be a mixture of pleasure and pain for many of us so, looking at the year ahead, we thought a list of alternative resolutions were in order, to increase our enjoyment and appreciation of life, rather than setting ourselves up to fail by not going to the gym. There’ll be no promises of losing weight, eating better, taking more exercise or earning more money. Arguably, that just leads to a waiting black hole of self-deprecation.

So here is a list of alternative, achievable resolve, one for each month – see what you think:

1. Have at least one new experience in 2015.

2. Shop locally more often.

3. Buy fresh food that isn’t covered in plastic (Chesham Market is great for this – or the new grocer by the clock tower).

4. Buy less crap.

5. Think less, be adventurous.

6. Grow. Just grow.

7. Go somewhere you’ve never been before.

8. Chew more.

9. Re-visit a childhood skill (tree climbing?).

10. Always carry a hanky.

11. Hold a party for your friends (BURYFields!).

12. Try a bit of pate and Brie together.
